Eight Hours A Day Keeps The Suicidal Thoughts Away?
Are you getting your daily dose of ZZZZ’s? A recent and potentially groundbreaking study released June 8 linked irregular sleep patterns with elevated feelings of suicide. College students with inconsistent sleep schedules and nights with fewer than the recommended eight hours were found to be more prone to suicidal thoughts and symptoms than those who got more sleep.
Researchers aren’t suggesting that if you are struggling with the idea of suicide that the magic solution is to hit the pillow a little earlier each night. They also aren’t implying that less sleep causes suicide. Rather, they believe that irregular sleep is an easily identifiable problem that can be regulated and hopefully made more consistent.
Do you think you get enough sleep?
If not, what do you think would help you get more consistent slumber?
Do you feel that sleep deprivation is adding to your or a friend’s suicidal thoughts?
