Can TV Joke About Suicide?
A couple months ago there was a scene on the TV show "The Office" where the boss, Michael Scott, acted like he'd hung himself in front of a bunch of little kids. Most people probably thought it was hilarious - the same clueless stuff that character is always doing. But a lot of people were offended, and even claimed this type of portrayal of suicide can lead to copycats. What do you think? Could the way suicide is treated in a movie or TV show affect people who might be thinking about taking their own life?

I haven't seen that, but I know I would have been offended because I have lost people to it. I think that if someone is really thinking about taking their life seeing something like that and seeing that it made people laugh it may make them want to do it.
Ya, I thought it was hilarius. but now I think about it and it probably was super hard for parents who had kids that committed suicide. but I don't think it would affect someone thinking about suicide.
I saw that episode of the office. I personally didn't think it was that funny nor offensive either. It can be offending to sensitive parents, and it can be funny to others. I personally don't think it affects the children though.
