Salute To Our Troops

Today is Veterans Day, a day to remember those honorable men and women who have served our country past, present and future. There is something plaguing the troops, however, which rarely gets talked about despite its unfortunate epidemic sweep: suicide.

Coming Soon… The Next Contest!

Teaser Image:

As this poetry contest comes to a close, we want to let you know there will be another one soon! You can rest easy tonight. Coming up next is photography and video during the winter. So if poetry wasn’t exactly your thing (or it was and you want to test your artistic skills in another area), stay tuned for the next “Let It Out” contest!

Watch this wall COME ALIVE!

Teaser Image:

Check this out! We had two Cheyenne youth programs contribute art to our “let it out” art wall by painting any kind of mouth they wanted. They painted the same type of mouth in three different stages (open, closed and in between) to create a “talking” effect once the stop-motion animation video came together. You’re watching the final product!

The wall is currently on display in downtown Cheyenne Depot Plaza if you want to go see it for yourself.

Calling All Poets

Poetry Head

Attention all Wyoming art fans: it’s time for another contest! Starting today, the fall poetry contest has officially commenced. We want anyone and everyone between the ages of 13 to 24 years old to submit a poem that follows the “Let It Out” theme. What gets under your skin, causes you to feel emotion, brings tears to your eyes, grips your fists in frustration or makes your entire body feel sad?

Out of the Darkness Walk

Teaser Image:

Grab your walking shoes and get your stretching in because Sheridan County is hosting a Wyoming Out Of The Darkness suicide prevention walk Saturday, September 11 at Grinnell Plaza at 11 a.m. This is a national event occurring in cities all across the country. It marks the end of National Suicide Prevention Week, September 5-11.

Crisis in Our Community

Teaser Image:

Two Wyoming brothers are dead by suicide within just a few years of each other, and their mother has found the courage to tell her story. In a recent Wyoming Tribune Eagle article, BJ Ayers tells the story of her sons' suicides and the nonprofit she's started to help prevent and raise awareness about suicide, as well as support those who have lost a loved one.
