(March 22, 2012) The Los Angeles Times ran a compelling article on March 17 about the ratings the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) gave to “The Hunger Games” and “Bully.” The former – a movie about teenagers in a group death match – was given a PG-13 rating. The latter – a documentary about the tragic effects of bullying (including two suicides) – received an R.

(March 22, 2012) Last week, a guilty verdict was reached in the cyber-bullying trial of an ex-Rutgers University student, Dharun Ravi, who – in 2010 – used a webcam to secretly film his gay college roommate, Tyler Clementi, during an intimate encounter with a date. Clementi committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge shortly after he learned about the webcam and that Ravi had shown portions of the video to other students.
